GSMA Industry Programmes at Mobile World Congress 2017

The countdown to Mobile World Congress 2017 is nearing its end, with just one week to go before the event kicks off on 27 February.  Whilst exhibitors and attendees wait in anticipation for the mobile industry’s leading event, the GSMA prepares to showcase the latest exciting initiatives the GSMA industry programmes have been working on, through a series of seminars and events, in addition to a number of interactive demos at the GSMA Innovation City.

The GSMA Innovation City at last year’s Mobile World Congress was one of the most popular attractions at the show, welcoming nearly 30,000 visitors. This year, to accommodate the additional numbers of exhibitors and demonstrations, the City will be taking up residence in Hall 4. The GSMA will be showcasing demonstrations for its key programmes and initiatives – including Connected Living, Mobile Connect, Network 2020 and Mobile for Development. Visit the GSMA Innovation City throughout Mobile World Congress 2017 to connect and explore with the latest innovations in 5G, Internet of Things (IoT), security and identity, and the latest cutting-edge solutions to every day challenges with a socio-economic impact.

Connected Living

At Mobile World Congress, the GSMA Connected Living Programme will highlight how mobile is the essential element of IoT. Delve into the world of IoT in one of the IoT Self Discovery Tours, or at one of the three summits and seminars including ‘IoT Elements: Bringing the Smart City to Life’, ‘Mobile IoT (LPWA) – Open for Business’, and the GSMA Global Mobile IoT Summit which is taking place on Sunday, 26 February. At the Ministerial Programme, Connected Living will be running two sessions ‘Advancing Healthcare through Mobile’ and ‘Paving the Way for Smart Cities’. Moreover, join MWC Tours on the ‘Connected World Tour’ and the ‘IoT Security Tour’ to discover everything IoT at Mobile World Congress 2017.

Personal Data

This year, Personal Data has a whole host of activities taking place at Mobile World Congress, including seminars, roundtables, workshops, and live demonstrations at the GSMA Innovation City. There will be three Mobile Connect seminars that will explore how the digital identity solution is delivering global mobile identity services and how global brands are protecting consumers from fraud, and will also give a view of the evolving landscape for high security authentication. The Personal Data team have put together an array of exciting demonstrations at the GSMA Innovation City, highlighting how Mobile Connect can be used for a variety of use cases, providing attendees with an opportunity to experience the solution across a range of sectors, including e-commerce, travel and government services.

Network 2020

Network 2020 will be guiding you through the latest innovations within Advanced Messaging, 4G Evolution and 5G through a number of demonstrations and seminars at Mobile World Congress 2017. There will be two Network 2020 seminars – ‘5G – Beyond Technology into Business Impact’ and ‘A New Global Platform for Conversations, Chatbots & Commerce’. Experience all things 5G at the Network 2020 stand in the GSMA Innovation City, where there will be four demonstrations, including a 5G gaming experience. Mobile for Development

Mobile for Development will be showcasing a number of innovations that deliver socio-economic impact. They are running two seminar sessions exploring the theme of ‘Innovate to Lead’, looking at innovative approaches to delivering customer value, revenue, impact and scale. In addition, the Mobile Money and Connected Women teams are holding a session focusing on accelerating universal financial access, which will be open to Silver, Gold and Platinum pass holders.

The Mobile for Development Rural Village in the GSMA Innovation City will allow users to interact with a range of mobile products and services, offering innovative solutions to everyday challenges, from weather forecasting and smart irrigation, to solar energy and cooking gas, to mobile health and mobile money. Also at the GSMA Innovation City, you can learn how the mobile industry is supporting the UN Sustainable Development Goals through an interactive globe that allows attendees to explore the mobile industry’s impact on achieving the SDGs through a series of videos, infographics, reports and more.
