GSMA adopts an additional process for the development of technical specifications

Standardisation in telecommunication has been one of the key drivers for the most ubiquitous industry in the world. The successful growth of mobile has been heavily dependent on affordable and interoperable technologies and this interoperability will remain the backbone of future generations of mobile telecommunication networks and all the services this enables.

As the telecommunications ecosystem is evolving and standards become diversified, GSMA’s specifications may be increasingly used to achieve interoperability and ensure security across multiple services and systems. In response to these developments, the GSMA has decided to add an additional set of  provisions to its rules and regulation, assisting with the development of certain technical specifications. The “Provisions for the Policy and Procedures for Official Document in relation to Industry Specifications – AA.35” will create an additional new track within the GSMA, aimed at further supporting the development of technical specifications that affect mobile operators and other ecosystem participants alike.

The creation of this additional process for technical specification development within the GSMA is a clear testament to the continuous commitment of the MNO community to interoperability, innovation and standardisation.
