The GSMA<\/a> will once again convene the global mobile industry at Mobile World Congress 2017<\/a> taking place in Barcelona from 27 February \u2013 2 March. This year\u2019s theme is \u2018The Next Element,\u2019 and the annual industry showcase will highlight just how elemental mobile has become in our everyday lives and the positive impact it is having for billions of people around the world.<\/p>\n

With plenty going on throughout the week such as breaking industry news, global product launches and conference sessions, it is easy to lose track of time at the event. The conference programme<\/a> features the thought-provoking keynote programme<\/a> alongside more than 40 relevant track sessions covering a wide range of topics areas and technologies.<\/p>\n

In this blog post we take a look ahead to the conference programme and address the all-important question \u2013 what can you expect to get out of Mobile World Congress 2017?<\/p>\n

The one-word answer is \u2018plenty\u2019. While the keynote speakers will make the headlines, there are also conference sessions that cater to every interest in mobile. Only the most dynamic and insightful speakers are selected for the conference programme<\/a>, which features sessions running between 60 and 90 minutes. Attendees can expect fresh ideas, announcements, debate and maybe even a bit of controversy from our speakers who are typically at the senior executive level of companies that are shaping the industry, from established giants to start-ups in mobile and across other adjacent industry sectors.<\/p>\n

This year\u2019s conference features seven themes that will help delegates to easily identify the sessions that are most relevant and are of the greatest interest. .<\/p>\n

The conference themes for 2017 are:<\/p>\n

Connected Consumers<\/strong>: The digital landscape is changing at an exponential pace. How will users interact with their digital environment? Sessions in this theme will also explore how brands and services can create richer services tailored specifically to the user.<\/p>\n

Content and Media:<\/strong> For many service providers, how content is delivered will be a critical business issue in the years to come. Faster and more pervasive connectivity and new device formats open up new forms of entertainment and interaction, from VR headsets to Pok\u00e9mon Go. Read more about this theme here<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Sustainable Development Goals:<\/strong> Mobile has a huge role to play in supporting the UN\u2019s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Launched in September 2015, the SDGs aim to end poverty, halt solutions-and-impact\/connectivity-for-good\/external-affairs\/climate-action\/ change and fight injustice and inequality. The SDGs are big, and so is the mobile industry\u2019s ambition to connect everyone and everything to a #betterfuture. From an enterprise perspective, what opportunities exist to build sustainable businesses in line with the SDGs?<\/p>\n

The Fourth Industrial Revolution:<\/strong> While enterprises of all kinds have used telecoms and digital services for years, the scale of impact across all industries is ramping up dramatically, giving digital providers opportunity to play a greater role. This will be addressed from two angles: the application of technology and the evolution of business models, strategies and competitive marketplaces as digitisation increases. The Pervasive Network:<\/strong> The end goal of most network technology developments is to make mobile connectivity simple, essential and ubiquitous. Sessions in this theme will explore the increasing challenges of achieving this goal and how to overcome them.<\/p>\n
