The GSMA has launched a number of activities to advance the goal of reducing the gender gap in the mobile industry, including our Women4Tech programme. In continuation of our executive dinners in North America, the GSMA hosted a formal, intimate Women Executives Dinner with 34 valued leaders in the telecommunications and technology industry that reflected a more global setting during MWC19. As we continue to demonstrate our commitment to the advancement of women in technology, we facilitated meaningful discussions among these female executive leaders in efforts to progress female leadership positions with the overarching goal to have more women participate in Boards and to further build team-oriented approaches in reaching this goal. Our guest speaker was Isabelle Durant; Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development who discussed the topic of increasing the female representation on board positions and identifying prospective actions that could be taken to achieve this goal in connection with SDG #5 “Gender Equality”. Our discussion took place on 26th February 2019 during MWC Barcelona.
