Digital inclusion and mobile sector taxation in Europe: The experience in Hungary 2016 image

Hungary is lagging behind the rest of the EU in the development of the digital economy and society. It has the lowest mobile penetration levels among members and only 26% of Hungarians have access to mobile internet. The mobile sector in Hungary is subject to one of the highest taxations in Europe which not only may impact the affordability of mobile services, but also could be one reason that investment in telecommunications has struggled.
