In 2020, Telstra set a target to enable renewable energy generation equivalent to 100 per cent of its electricity consumption by December 2025<sup>1<\/sup>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To meet this target,\u202fTelstra has partnered with solar and wind farm developers through long-term Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) to increase renewable energy generation in Australia&#8217;s electricity grid.\u202f&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Telstra\u2019s\u202finvestments in seven projects across Queensland, Victoria and New South Wales have supported\u202fnew\u202frenewable energy projects worth $1.6 billion and contracted 868 MW of renewable capacity. To date, we have not claimed the use of renewable energy from the projects ourselves, nor has it directly contributed to our 2030 scope 1+2 emissions reduction target.\u202fThese investments support Australia\u2019s renewable energy transition and have helped us manage energy costs by reducing exposure to electricity price volatility.\u202f\u202f&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For the\u202fsix months\u202fended\u202fDecember 2025, Telstra exceeded\u202fits\u202ftarget \u2013 enabling renewable energy generation equivalent to 121 per cent of\u202fits\u202felectricity consumption.\u202fThis increased to 138 per cent\u202ffor\u202fFY26.\u202f\u202f&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Many of the PPAs in place will continue to at least 2030 and their generation equivalent to\u202fTelstra&#8217;s\u202fconsumption will continue to be tracked.\u202f\u202f&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-buttons is-layout-flex wp-block-buttons-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-button\"><a class=\"wp-block-button__link wp-element-button\" href=\"https:\/\/www.telstra.com.au\/connected\/environment\/powering-more-energy-than-we-use\">Learn more<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-button\"><a class=\"wp-block-button__link wp-element-button\" href=\"https:\/\/www.gsma.com\/solutions-and-impact\/connectivity-for-good\/external-affairs\/climate-action\/case-studies\/\">Access the climate action case study library<\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Telstra uses\u202fover 1,000 GWh of electricity in Australia, making them one of the nation\u2019s largest\u202felectricity\u202fconsumers.
