Driving Digital Inclusion: An Overview of the Connected Society and Connected Women Programmes

Resource thumbnail

The GSMA’s Connected Society and Connected Women programmes aim to bridge the digital divide and drive digital inclusion across low- and middle-income countries. With over three billion people still unconnected to mobile internet, these initiatives focus on addressing the barriers that prevent underserved communities, particularly women, from benefiting from connectivity. Through partnerships with mobile operators, governments and development organisations, the programmes work to increase access to and adoption of mobile internet, while also reducing the gender gap in mobile services. By overcoming barriers like affordability, a lack of digital skills and safety concerns, among others, the GSMA’s Digital Inclusion team drives transformative action to ensure no one is left behind in our increasingly connected world.
