The Global Privacy Assembly (GPA) is the leading international forum for data protection and privacy authorities.  The GPA now includes over 140 authorities from more than 90 countries and this year\u2019s assembly takes place in Seoul.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The GPA will take place on 15-19 September 2025, hosted by the Personal Information Protection Commission (PIPC) Korea under the theme of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in our Daily Lives: Data and Privacy Issues. participants will include industry representatives, policymakers, and technology specialists engaging in two days of discussions, information sharing, and networking opportunities. This blog provides a sneak peek into the GSMA participation and activities at this important event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Policy Forum (Side Event) \u2013 GSMA Breakfast Briefing<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

On Tuesday 16th<\/sup> September, the GSMA will host a breakfast briefing on Networks of Trust: Scam Prevention and Privacy Protection through Innovation<\/a>. This session will explore the challenges and opportunities associated with scam prevention and the evolving arms race between scammers and defenders. It will also highlight the critical role that Mobile Network Operators (MNOs) play in combating digital scams, enabling digital identity verification, and safeguarding data privacy through telco innovations in AI systems and APIs, as well as how multi-stakeholder collaboration and interoperable frameworks are key in tackling these issues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Delegates will gain insights into the mobile industry, and the digital ecosystem\u2019s opportunities and challenges, from building future-proofing initiatives to navigating global regulatory landscapes. This is the platform where data protection and privacy authorities, MNOs, government agencies, and policymakers can come together to listen to, reflect, and examine their evolving role to balance smart data privacy implementation, protection, and innovation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Another major focus will be the launch of our new report, Smart Implementation of Data Privacy Laws. Data protection and privacy authorities face numerous challenges in implementing data privacy laws, whether they are an emerging authority implementing a new law or a well-established authority having to consider how to modify the implementation of an existing law. Achieving the right outcomes for the digital age requires a smart approach to regulation, as well as a trusted mobile ecosystem. The report serves as baseline advocating smart implementation and oversight in the digital age.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

GSMA Drop-In\/VIP Room<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

On 16 to 18 September, our GSMA team will also be available for meetings and discussions with all data protection and supervisory authorities, government agencies, and delegates at the GPA.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
