{"id":77048,"date":"2021-10-06T13:58:54","date_gmt":"2021-10-06T12:58:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.gsma.com\/solutions-and-impact\/connectivity-for-good\/public-policy\/?page_id=77048"},"modified":"2025-09-18T13:24:47","modified_gmt":"2025-09-18T12:24:47","slug":"5g-emf-surveys","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.gsma.com\/solutions-and-impact\/connectivity-for-good\/public-policy\/regulatory-environment\/emf-and-health\/safety-of-5g-networks\/5g-emf-surveys\/","title":{"rendered":"5G EMF Surveys"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-5g-emf-surveys\">5G EMF Surveys<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:50px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n<p>Across the world, national health agencies, government regulators, academia, test laboratories, mobile operators and manufacturers have conducted extensive testing on commercial and test networks to determine 5G EMF exposure levels.<\/p>\n<p>These surveys show that:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>International safety and testing standards are in place for all 5G frequencies including millimetre waves (mmWave).<\/li>\n<li>Measured levels from 5G networks operating in all continents are low, and well below the international safety limits.<\/li>\n<li>5G EMF levels are similar to other wireless technologies with little difference between frequency bands.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>5G networks are designed to use radio spectrum efficiently and this is evident in the testing. Measured levels are for publicly accessible areas, typically at ground level. 5G EMF levels were converted to a percentage of the relevant international (ICNIRP) public EMF limit.<em> 5G combined<\/em> refers to \u2018all mobile\u2019 or \u2018all radio sources\u2019 depending on the measurement approach.
