Looking to the Future at the Open Gateway Summit |

The Open Gateway Summit at MWC Barcelona 2026 provided real insight into how the adoption of network APIs has been accelerating over the past year. Divided into three sessions, the Summit showcased the ecosystem today, what still needs to happen, and real-world examples of APIs in action:

Understanding the Expanding Ecosystem brought together operators, aggregators and platform players to examine how far the ecosystem has come, and what needs to happen next.

From Identity to Programmability examined the impact of advanced network APIs on future services, and the convergence of network APIs with agentic AI.

Dial M for Monetise looked at how vertical industries are using network APIs to solve real-world problems moved away from the ‘how’ and focused on tangible use cases.

Open Gateway Hackathon: Showcasing innovation using Network APIs |
|
The Open Gateway Hackathon, sponsored by Nokia, brought together developers, innovators and telecom experts for two days of intensive collaboration at the
Talent Arena during MWC Barcelona 2026.
With over 100 participants competing across two days, teams addressed real-world challenges including crowd safety, disaster response and intelligent video processing.

Open Gateway DevCon: Building the next generation of Network APIs |
|
The Open Gateway DevCon united developers to explore how telecom network capabilities are transforming application development. The event welcomed over 600 developers, including more than 500 enterprise developers, highlighting the strong demand for applications powered by standardised Network APIs.
Through demos and technical sessions, leading technology companies demonstrated how to integrate network intelligence directly into applications using the GSMA Open Gateway initiative. |

Advanced API Adoption Round Table went deep into the commercial, regulatory and technological forces shaping the future of network APIs. Covering monetisation, market maturity, data and commercial models, standardisation, regulation, AI and key use cases, the consensus was clear: it’s time to move from discussion to delivery. Read the

Open Gateway Channel Partner Round Table brought together channel partners, CPaaS providers, hyperscalers, system integrators, developers and ecosystem stakeholders to discuss how the industry can accelerate demand, adoption and monetisation of Open Gateway and CAMARA Network APIs. The recurring theme: the future lies in solution-based outcomes. Find out how the

GSMA Fusion Round Tables brought together senior leaders from automotive, aviation and telecoms to tackle the future of connected, network-enabled mobility.
