By exposing network capabilities through standardised APIs, it allows developers to build applications that interact directly with mobile networks, without needing to understand the complex infrastructure behind them.\u00a0GSMA Fusion goes a step further, helping\u00a0enterprises\u00a0develop APIs that specifically addresses\u00a0their needs.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Rather than enterprises\u00a0having to\u00a0adapt\u00a0their plans\u00a0to whatever a network happens to offer, Fusion flips the model.\u00a0The programme\u00a0enables sectors such as automotive, aviation, fintech, manufacturing,\u00a0media\u00a0and entertainment to define what they need from\u00a0their mobile networks &#8211;\u00a0latency, reliability, security, identity, location, or prioritisation, \u00a0across multiple markets.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 id=\"h-how-is-the-gsma-fusion-program-better-than-building-in-house\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>How is\u00a0the\u00a0GSMA Fusion\u00a0program\u00a0better\u00a0than\u00a0building\u00a0\u201cin-house\u201d?\u00a0<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There may be cases where using proprietary APIs is&nbsp;a&nbsp;necessity. However,&nbsp;the integration challenges,&nbsp;need for&nbsp;operator-by-operator&nbsp;roll out&nbsp;and potential vendor lock-in issues&nbsp;means working with open, standardised APIs&nbsp;offers significant advantages.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Speed to market<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Standardised APIs have been crucial in enabling developers to deploy solutions and applications consistently across markets, while enabling&nbsp;easier onboarding and application testing.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Without this standardisation, a business must negotiate, integrate, and&nbsp;maintain&nbsp;separate technical relationships with every operator in every market. This can&nbsp;typically take months or years, while competitors and innovator move at speed. The era of pilots and proof-of-concepts&nbsp;leading to&nbsp;a long deployment period&nbsp;is over.&nbsp;Standardised&nbsp;network APIs are&nbsp;enabling enterprise to go from idea to revenue generation or value realisation in a fraction of the time.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Cost efficiency<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The fragmentation of proprietary integrations creates significant technical debt. To date\u00a0<strong>52<\/strong> commercial launches have taken place. A business engaging with Fusion gains structured access to this entire ecosystem through a single, coordinated process \u2014 something no in-house team could replicate at comparable cost or speed.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Influence over the roadmap<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Perhaps the\u00a0most under valued benefit is that Fusion gives enterprises a formal voice in shaping which APIs get built.\u00a0For example:\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Tata Elxsi<\/strong>\u00a0has called on mobile network operators\u00a0to standardise\u00a0Quality on Demand\u00a0APIs for the automotive and drone industries;\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>FICO<\/strong> called for more markets to support Scam Signal,\u00a0reducing fraud\u00a0and encouraging investment in developing regions;\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Skydio<\/strong>\u00a0requested support from\u00a0mobile network operators\u00a0to aid how drones can better support emergency service first responders.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">These are not passive API consumers, they are businesses shaping what the network of the future looks like. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 id=\"h-how-does-the-fusion-process-work\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>How does the\u00a0Fusion process work?<\/strong>\u00a0<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Fusion&nbsp;programme offers a clear and defined&nbsp;process,&nbsp;built around a structured mechanism called a Statement of Requirements. Here is how it works in practice:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Step 1: Engage<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A business or industry body approaches GSMA Fusion with a connectivity challenge or opportunity. The team works with the enterprise to understand their specific needs \u2014 whether that&#8217;s guaranteed quality of service for live streaming, real-time identity verification for financial transactions, or low-latency connectivity for drone operations.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Step 2: Define<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The enterprise, supported by Fusion, articulates its requirements formally through a Statement of Requirements. This document sets out what network capabilities are needed, at what performance level, and across which markets.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Step 3: Align<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Enterprises and partners contribute real-world insights through Statements of Requirements to advance API standardisation. Fusion then brings these requirements directly to the operator community and the <a href=\"https:\/\/camaraproject.org\/\">CAMARA<\/a> open-source project,\u00a0ensuring the API meets requirement and\u00a0specifications.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Step 4: Build and deploy<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">CAMARA defines the APIs \u2014 such as Number Verification, Location Verification, and Quality on Demand. Open Gateway then ensures consistency\u00a0across markets, supports consent and capacity management, and enables monetisation.
