About Us<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The GSMA and the GUTMA (Global Unmanned Traffic Management Association) have set up the Aerial Connectivity Joint Activity (ACJA) initiative to build communication and cooperation between the aviation and mobile industries. The main aim of the ACJA is to facilitate engagement between the two sectors, build a mutual understanding, and advocate and explain how mobile services will benefit UAS and UTM service providers, as well as ANSPs (air navigation service providers) and regulators. The community identifies current challenges and works together to tackle them. The intent is to bring cohesive proposals, supported by GSMA and GUTMA members, to the relevant standards development organisations of each community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Currently, the work is carried out by four Work Tasks with the following focus:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  • Cellular Standard Coordination:<\/strong> Coordinating with 3GPP to ensure aviation-related considerations are taken into account in the future.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Interface for the Data Exchange between MNOs and the UTM ecosystem:<\/strong> Establishing how mobile network operators can support UTM service providers with additional information.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Standard Aerial Service Profile:<\/strong> Supporting aerial services.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Minimum operational performance specifications & minimum aviation system performance standards:<\/strong> Documenting the performance of cellular networks in aviation terms.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

    ACJA Steering Organisation<\/div><\/div>

    \nResponsible for the overall strategy and management of all joint activity between the GSMA and GUTMA. <\/p>\n

    (Until the new Secretary General of GUTMA is appointed, the ACJA Decision Board will act on behalf of GUTMA in this role.)<\/p>\n
