Now, more than ever, governments across the globe are focussing on the IoT. Earlier this year the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gsma.com\/solutions-and-impact\/technologies\/internet-of-things\/news\/chancellors-iot-pledge-part-of-bigger-global-trend\/\">UK budget<\/a> included a pledge to fund the IoT, the Indian Government released their <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gsma.com\/solutions-and-impact\/technologies\/internet-of-things\/news\/gsma-guidelines-at-the-heart-of-the-indian-governments-m2m-policy-considerations\/\">M2M Roadmap<\/a> and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gsma.com\/solutions-and-impact\/technologies\/internet-of-things\/news\/u-s-senate-subcommittee-respect-for-privacy-vital-for-growth-of-the-iot\/\">U.S. Senate<\/a> had a breakthrough discussion on the need for a well regulated Internet of Things.<br \/>\nThese are just a few examples of how governments and legislatures around the world are responding to the growing IoT opportunity. Policymakers are now engaging more seriously on issues such as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gsma.com\/solutions-and-impact\/technologies\/internet-of-things\/iot-security\/iot-security-guidelines\/\">security<\/a>, privacy, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gsma.com\/solutions-and-impact\/technologies\/internet-of-things\/gsma_resources\/iot-connection-efficiency-guidelines\/\">connection efficiency<\/a> and the need for light and flexible regulation.
