Industry 4.0, the digitisation and advancement of the manufacturing processes and ecosystem, is set to create far more flexible, efficient and sustainable production lines. 5G for IoT underpins this transformation by enabling manufacturing companies and their supply chain partners the opportunity to utilise emerging technologies such as AI and machine vision to give vastly improved visibility over all aspects of their business. The GSMA is focused on building the benefits of 5G IoT for manufacturing, by bringing together leading operators and manufacturing companies around the world.<\/p>\n<p id=\"auto\">\n<h4>Automotive and Mobility<\/h4>\n<\/p>\n<p>C-V2X (Cellular Vehicle-to-Everything) is the technology that will allow the connected vehicle market to scale to its full potential. C-V2X is an enhanced 3GPP LTE standard that describes a set of technologies enabling communication messages between vehicles, infrastructure and people. Its uses and benefits include enhanced safety, more efficient driving, reduced traffic congestion and pollution, and value-added services for end customers. The GSMA is working with mobile operators, automotive OEMs and suppliers, industry associations and regulatory bodies to accelerate the growth of the connected vehicle market by agreeing a common approach to security, regulatory and infrastructure solutions.<\/p>\n<p id=\"solutions-and-impact\/industries\/smart-mobility\/air-mobility\/\">\n<h4>Drones and Aviation<\/h4>\n<\/p>\n<p>The Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) market is one of the most quickly growing and innovative sectors of the IoT and presents a huge commercial and strategic opportunity for operators and their technology partners. The GSMA is actively working with the telecoms and aviation industries to maximise the use of beyond-visual-line-of-sight capabilities of UAS, develop new use cases and help create an open and trusted regulatory environment.<\/p>\n<p id=\"esim\">\n<h4>eSIM<\/h4>\n<\/p>\n<p>eSIM is a global specification by the GSMA which enables remote SIM provisioning of any mobile device. eSIM allows consumers to store multiple operator profiles on a device simultaneously, and switch between them remotely, though only one can be used at a time. Manufacturers and operators can now enable consumers to select the operator of their choice and then securely download that operator\u2019s SIM application to any device. eSIM is the only globally backed remote SIM specification for consumer devices.
