Our Sessions:

Sports and Entertainment Summit: How Mobile tech is transforming the Sports and Entertainment Vertical

Date and Time: 17:00 – 18:00 (CET), Tuesday 27th February

Fans and guests’ increasing demand to use data to immediately share special moments at events, has meant that wireless connectivity has become central to delivering a world class experience.

Decisions on DAS (Distributed Antenna Systems) deployed in venue have become critical to meet this increased demand and provide the quality of signal to match expectations. With mobile ticketing becoming the norm, deployments of small cells near the gates to enable fans to access the ticket are now part of this technology decision. Mobile edge computing is enabling faster processing, C-band is bringing higher performance and 5g. Mobile technologies are game changers in transforming the Sports and Entertainment vertical.

Sports and Entertainment Summit: Creating a World Class fan and Guest Experience

Date and Time: 17:00 – 18:00 (CET), Wednesday 28th February

Technology will continue to infuse every aspect of sports, creating a more immersive experience for fans at live events and at home. Across the globe, stadia are investing in connectivity solutions to enhance the fan/guest experience, from driveway to driveway. Mobile apps providing travelling and parking info, as well in stadia queueing times, are common and frictionless payments to enable speedier purchase of refreshments are growing. At home, the use of on-screen graphics and insights provides a better UX for the armchair fan.

This session will explore how technology is enabling the delivery of a more immersive and better fan/guest experience.

Sports and Entertainment Summit: Enhancing the back office

Date and Time: 11:00 – 12:00 (CET), Thursday 29th February

The widespread use of contactless payments has enabled the total removal of cash from venues, reducing operating costs, but this has to be underpinned by high standards of availability and capacity. Cashierless checkouts, often deployed utilising software as a service models, have created the flexibility to spin up new formats and utilise space previously regarded as too small to maximise revenues.

In this session, along with the above, we will also discuss improving on and off field security with facial recognition, how Private Wireless Network deployed in NFL stadia on game days are enabling coach to coach comms and how crowd analytics are enabling real time operational decisions to respond to customer demand.

Sports and Entertainment Summit: How the industry is embracing new technologies

Date and Time: 12:30 – 13:30 (CET), Thursday 29th February

AR technologies are already deployed to enable stadium navigation for fans, but in future this can enable a much more immersive experience, by sharing and visualising data. AR can be used to deliver 3D visuals over the field, like ball distance and launch angle, and to navigate stadiums.

The market for XR headsets is forecast to grow from $40m in 2021, to $400m with Apple, Meta and Pico featuring strongly. Gaming is currently the key use case, with haptic feedback making gaming more immersive and realistic than ever before.

Mobile technologies continue to develop to create brilliant experiences in the Sports and Entertainment vertical. This session will review trends for the next 5 -10 years.
