{"id":34141,"date":"2022-03-25T14:48:33","date_gmt":"2022-03-25T14:48:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.gsma.com\/futurenetworks\/?p=34141"},"modified":"2022-03-25T14:48:33","modified_gmt":"2022-03-25T14:48:33","slug":"gsma-launches-new-whitepaper-telco-edge-cloud-value-achievements","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.gsma.com\/solutions-and-impact\/technologies\/networks\/latest-news\/gsma-launches-new-whitepaper-telco-edge-cloud-value-achievements\/","title":{"rendered":"GSMA launches new whitepaper: Telco Edge Cloud Value &#038; Achievements"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"paragraph\"><span class=\"normaltextrun\">The GSMA launched the Telco Edge Cloud (TEC) initiative two years ago, with 19 operators committing to design and develop a global edge computing service based on the federation of the edge infrastructure of multiple providers. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph\"><span class=\"normaltextrun\">Working in parallel to the GSMA Operator Platform Group (OPG), which is setting the technical framework for its implementation, in collaboration with bodies like ETSI, 3GPP or Linux Foundation, the TEC community has grown to include technology and platform providers, counting 24 members at this moment, and it has also recently extended its scope to include NaaS services.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph\"><span class=\"normaltextrun\">During these two years, the TEC community has supported the work in OPG with service and commercial requirements, contacted other industry associations and push trials to showcase the value of Telco Edge Cloud for the different stakeholders.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph\"><span class=\"normaltextrun\">This whitepaper describes the progress that has been made thus far and defines the value and benefits TEC brings not just to customers (ranging from application developers to solution providers, system integrators, software vendors and enterprises from different verticals), but also to operators and end-users with the aim of encouraging the telecom ecosystem to join the initiative and help to give shape to this nascent global Edge and NaaS network.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph\"><span class=\"normaltextrun\">It also outlines the future steps, which includes setting up TEC Labs, a network of interconnected edge and NaaS nodes, as a permanent testbed for customer trials, and the definition of service and commercial models that will sustain the TEC network, including the corresponding interoperator agreements.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Click <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gsma.com\/solutions-and-impact\/technologies\/networks\/gsma_resources\/tec-value-whitepaper\/\">here<\/a> to download the whitepaper<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The GSMA launched the Telco Edge Cloud (TEC) initiative two years ago, with 19 operators committing to design and develop a global edge computing service based on the federation of the edge infrastructure of multiple providers.
