Telef\u00f3nica, T-Mobile, Sparkle (Telecom Italia), Meta and Microsoft will be the initial co-chairs of this group, which will be tasked with developing industry-wide network capabilities, specific APIs and mechanisms needed to offer end-to-end (E2E) connectivity for immersive applications at scale.<\/p>\n<p>TIP&#8217;s metaverse group is part of wider efforts at collaboration and knowledge sharing between stakeholders from business, government and civil society to build a fully fledged metaverse. For operators, the provision of network services, including 5G (and future 6G) connectivity and network innovations such as edge computing and slicing, is a key pathway to carve out a position in the metaverse ecosystem. Operators can also capture value from the development of platforms, content and services inside the metaverse.
