Vodafone UK has dedicated a slice of its public 5G standalone (5G SA) network to TV production company ITN to broadcast the coronation of King Charles III. It claims to be the first operator to dedicate a slice of public 5G SA network to broadcast a major event in the country. The move enables \u201cswift and secure\u201d transfer of live coverage to ITN\u2019s headquarters so it can be shared across the UK and worldwide. Meanwhile, Verizon has deployed a private 5G network at the Formula 1 Miami Grand Prix. It claims the solution provides robust, high-speed and low-latency connectivity for areas such as ticket scanning and digital sign management, as well as reduced interference, greater privacy and security.<\/p>\n

Operators are increasingly providing innovative 5G solutions to support large events. They represent an opportunity to compare theory with reality for 5G, encompassing large numbers of people, high levels of traffic and the need for secure and fast transmission of digital content. With the continued rollout of 5G networks, interest in the customised network capabilities that slicing and private networks can create is set to grow further, spurring innovation and cultivating new use cases (explored further in GSMA Intelligence research<\/a>).<\/p>\n
