Generative AI grows its presence across consumer devices<\/strong><\/p>\n

Smartphone and mobile application companies continue to beat the drum for AI innovation. Microsoft recently announced the launch of Copilot for iOS devices, following its launch on Android. The AI chatbot can be used to draft emails, summarise text, compose stories and create images with DALL-E3. Meanwhile, Samsung has recently stated that \u201cGalaxy AI is coming\u201d. This comes ahead of the expected launch of the new Galaxy S24 smartphone, which (according to reports) could come integrated with Gauss, Samsung\u2019s generative-AI model.<\/p>\n

AI is set to have a far-reaching impact across consumer electronics devices. In smartphones, the integration of advanced AI is seen as a key differentiator in a mature market. For operators, the growing presence of AI in consumer devices will likely place new demands on data traffic and require voice services to support smart voice interaction and generative AI apps. This could offer potential for monetisation. Meanwhile, an area of opportunity for all ecosystem players will be in preserving privacy and security, and combatting deep fakes, while allowing users to make the most of the benefits offered by generative AI.<\/p>\n
