Mobile communication has evolved dramatically over the past twenty years, from the advent of SMS and mobile messaging, to the emergence of smartphones and the mobile application ecosystem. Innovative third-party providers running \u2018over the top\u2019 of mobile operator\u2019s high performance data networks have pushed the boundaries of digital communications and shown us what users now expect from modern mobile communications services. Mobile network operators are now in a positon to respond thanks to the growth of LTE and the development of new operator-provided IP-communications services providing high quality voice and video combined with rich messaging functionality.<\/p>\n

In support of the GSMA\u2019s Network 2020 Programme, a new report from GSMA Intelligence (the research arm of the GSMA) explores the rationale for IP-communications, and analyses its adoption path in the context of both networks and native devices.<\/p>\n

Key questions addressed by the report include:
\n\u2022 What is the end user value proposition of IP-communications?
\n\u2022 How can MNOs expect to benefit from IP-communications?
\n\u2022 Is the industry ready for IP-communications, and to what extent is an industry shift to IP-communications already happening?
\n\u2022 What are the major variables that will influence the success of IP-communications in the future?<\/p>\n
