5G Spectrum and Policy Forum @ MWCS 2018

Start: Thursday 28 June 2018

End: Thursday 28 June 2018

Venue: Shanghai New International Expo Centre

Location: Shanghai

The GSMA, along with its partners from GSA,  hosted the 3rd Annual 5G Spectrum & Policy Workshop at the 2018 Mobile World Congress – Shanghai.

As Asia is now on the eve of commercialisation of 5G and the 3GPP Release-15 standard was completed in June, operators in the region are gearing up to start deployment from as early as end of 2018. Expected widespread coverage is predicted from 2020 in early-adopter countries such as China, Japan and Korea.

This year’s Forum brought together governments and industry stakeholders to share the experiences from trials, preparation of pre-commercial pilots and plans for commercial deployments. Examination of spectrum and policy challenges in satisfying the requirements from vertical industries, the readiness of technologies and the spectrum implications were debated.

To highlight the 5G opportunity, especially in China, a recently released report on 5G in China: the enterprise story was used as illustration.
