5G is rapidly moving from trials to early commercialisation. 5G spectrum awards have already begun and the variation in the amount of spectrum assigned, and the prices paid, means the potential of 5G services will vary between countries. Spectrum policy is key to help realise 5G’s full potential, and accelerate development and adoption of 5G technologies.

ASEAN is one of the major economic centre of the world with a vibrant and innovative ecosystem. The GSMA, and its member operators are collaborating with the ASEAN secretariat to ensure the region continues this reputation as 5G becomes reality. GSMA and ARFM is co-organising the ASEAN 5G Spectrum Forum on Friday 16th of August, in Hanoi, Viet Nam.

During this workshop, key ASEAN government stakeholders and international industry experts will discuss recent developments on spectrum bands for 5G worldwide. We will also examine spectrum and policy challenges in satisfying the requirements from industries, readiness of the technologies and their spectrum implications. Finally we will also discuss practical recommendation on spectrum planning for 5G.
