The GSMA contributes to development of the regional Spectrum Policy Framework in Southern Africa

 

The second meeting of the Electronic Communications Committee (ECC) for 2019/2020 took place from 3 – 7 February 2020 at the Montebelo Hotel, Maputo, Mozambique. The GSMA participated, as an industry partner and there were representatives from ten Communications Regulators’ Association of Southern Africa (CRASA) organisations present.

The GSMA reviewed a pre-existing draft that the ECC had been working on since 2018 and presented a revised draft SADC Spectrum Policy document for review and validation.

As part of its contribution to the meeting, the GSMA, havThe GSMA had previously worked to review and revise the pre-existing text and provide input for the policy document. During the validation process, the ECC provided some feedback which will be reviewed and incorporated into the process to finalize the policy document ahead of the CRASA Annual General Meeting of regional Regulators, where the final policy document will be approved to be forwarded to the meeting of regional ICT ministers later in the year.
