The GSMA Director General, Mats Granryd, the Chief Regulatory Officer, John Giusti, the Head of Sub-Saharan Africa, Akinwale Goodluck and Kamal Tamawa, Policy Manager – Spectrum, Government and Regulatory Affairs visited Nigeria to attend a meeting with His Excellency the Vice President Yemi Osinbajo. The meeting discussed financial inclusion and the role that mobile can play towards supporting the achievement of Nigeria’s Financial Inclusion objectives and targets.
The GSMA assuaged concerns about mobile money posing a threat to traditional banking and strongly advocated for an active role for the mobile industry in the delivery of Mobile Money services in Nigeria particularly as it relates to achieving Nigeria’s financial inclusion objectives.
