MMU’S GLOBAL ADOPTION SURVEY FOR MOBILE FINANCIAL SERVICES NOW OPEN

Last week, MMU’s Market Intelligence team kicked off the start of the 2014 Global Adoption Survey.

This survey – which covers not only global mobile money services, but also mobile insurance, credit and savings – is in its fourth year, and data collected from participants is analysed for the GSMA’s annual State of the Industry: Mobile Financial Services for the Unbanked report. This industry-renowned publication is the most comprehensive assessment of global mobile financial services targeting the unbanked. The 2014 State of the Industry report will be launched next March at Mobile World Congress, and will examine the mobile money landscape in 2014, with a focus on usage, access, product offerings and ecosystem, as well as insights into the emerging mobile insurance, credit and savings landscape.

In addition, participants in this year’s survey will receive a confidential and personalised Benchmark Report, enabling them to assess the performance of their mobile financial service relative to that of their peers at both a global and regional level, and across over 20 industry indicators.

Last year, we had 110 MFS providers from 56 countries respond to our survey. We are hoping to drive even greater participation this year. We are asking participants to complete the survey by July 25th – this deadline is important to us as it will allow us to conduct detailed analysis and to develop deeper insights, beneficial to the industry as a whole.

If you haven’t yet received an email from us about the Global Adoption Survey, but would like to participate this year, please email [email protected] requesting the following survey questionnaires based on the mobile financial services you offer:

  • Mobile Money questionnaire
  • Mobile Insurance questionnaire
  • Mobile Credit and Savings questionnaire

Visit the MMU Data & Insights section for more info and we look forward to your participation!

NOTE ON SURVEY DATA

As with previous surveys, submitted data will be kept confidential; all proprietary data that is shared with us is governed by strict non-disclosure agreements. MMU will use this data to analyse the global and regional development of mobile financial services which target the underserved, but we will only ever publicly report figures that are aggregated or that have been completely anonymised so that the results of individual participants cannot be deduced.
