Standards and guidance for the measurement of carbon emissions
GHG Protocol
For the measurement of carbon emissions, the GSMA recommends using the GHG Protocol guidance for corporate reporting. This explains Scopes of emissions and how to measure them. For Scope 3 emissions, because they are difficult to assess, the GSMA has developed guidance specific for telecommunication operators.
Scope 3 Guidance for Telecommunication Operators
This guidance, developed by the GSMA, GeSI and the ITU, harmonises methods for telecommunication operators to assess and report their Scope 3 GHG emissions and to increase coverage and transparency. It is intended to supplement, not supersede, existing standards.
Water Impacts of the Telecommunications Sector
To support operators improve understanding of their water usage, this report provides a structured, forward‑looking assessment of water withdrawal, consumption and quality impacts associated with telecommunications activities.
