In 2025, the GSMA 5G Future Community helped shift 5G Standalone and 5G-Advanced from technical milestones to real commercial platforms, bringing guaranteed service levels into board-level conversations worldwide. Alongside this, we strengthened our communities and research, connecting operators and partners to drive measurable outcomes, new revenue models and meaningful network differentiation.

As the festive break approaches, I wanted to share the final updates for 2025 from the Community. This edition brings together new research on 5G Standalone, alongside on-demand content from MWC Doha, designed to be both informative and easy to dip into over the festive period.

Inside this edition, you’ll find:
  • On-demand content from industry leaders who presented at the 5G Future Summit at MWC Doha.
  • The latest 5G Standalone market research exploring how operators can differentiate consumer services, meet rising service expectations, and drive revenue growth.
  • Updates, insights, and opportunities to engage with the GSMA Communities.
We hope you enjoy diving in and perhaps find a few ideas to kick off the new year with.

Wishing you a relaxing festive break, and we look forward to what 2026 will bring.

MWC Doha Speaker Insight
The pressure is on for operators to show progress on 5G, but the path to monetisation is still taking shape. MWC Doha gave the connectivity ecosystem a space to explore what’s needed to realise the full potential of 5G. Conversations centred on progress to date, what’s enabling adoption and how operators, regulators and partners can turn standalone networks into new services and revenue streams.

The key question remains: in a more complex, ecosystem-led model, who truly owns the end-to-end solution?

As long-time partners of MWC Barcelona, we were glad to see the Middle East edition carry the same weight. Looking forward to what comes next in the region.
