Welcome to your Q3 2025 round-up from the GSMA 5G Futures Community.
This edition shares the latest developments shaping the 5G ecosystem and a look ahead at what’s next.

One of the standout moments this quarter was the Non-Terrestrial Networks (NTNs) Community’s exhibit at World Space Business Week. Alex Sinclair, GSMA’s Chief Technology Officer, joined a fireside chat on the transformative potential of NTNs, and during the week the GSMA Foundry renewed collaboration with the European Space Agency (ESA) for another two years, an important step in advancing satellite-terrestrial integration.

You’ll find more insights, updates, and opportunities to engage with the Community in this newsletter.
Kind regards,
Henry Calvert,
Head of Networks, GSMA

Speeding up 5G Standalone progress
To accelerate the full potential of 5G, mobile operators must invest in 5G Standalone (SA) core infrastructure. Just over 20% of operators with live 5G networks have launched commercial 5G SA networks, leaving others at risk of falling behind in the new industrial revolution. The leaders will be those who act now, building networks ready for AI, automation and open APIs.

Read the report, “Destination Growth: The Journey to Complete 5G” for further insights on the pathway to 5G SA deployment, and join us at the 5G Future Summit during MWC Doha for the launch of the next report in the series.
