Joint Declaration by EU and Moldovan mobile operators to reduce roaming charges

A group of people in formal attire stand and sit around a conference table, displaying signed documents. Behind them, two flags (Moldova and EU) and a large video screen show virtual participants. The setting appears official and diplomatic.

The European Commission and Moldovan authorities have facilitated a voluntary Joint Declaration between EU and Moldovan mobile operators, which was signed on 31 May during a ceremony hosted by the Commission. The Declaration will ensure lower roaming tariffs between the EU/EEA and the Republic of Moldova and signatories have agreed to several deliverables including an upper retail price-cap to be agreed by 1 October 2023, an assessment of a possible wholesale roaming cap and a renegotiation of wholesale roaming agreements, where required. The Declaration will apply until 31 December 2025 with the possibility for renewal and is open for all operators who wish to sign at any time.
