GSMA Working Groups

GSMA Working Groups that are particularly interesting to many MNO members include the Wholesale Agreements and Solutions (WAS), the Fraud and Security (FASG), and the Networks Group (NG).

Eligibility

GSMA operator membership is open to licensed mobile network operators using a GSM family technology 2G-5G and beyond. It includes satellite operators, aircraft operators, maritime operators, and telecommunications administrative/ regulatory bodies. 

Mobile virtual network operators (MVNO) 

MVNOs and mobile virtual network enablers (MVNEs) are leveraging the GSMA and its technology working groups to enhance their service offering and business performance. e-SIM, Blockchain, NFV, AI and Edge Computing represent some of the growing trends in technology adoption by MVNOs, areas at the forefront of GSMA’s working groups and industry initiatives. 

GSMA Working Groups

GSMA membership features that are particularly interesting to many MVNO members include the Wholesale Agreements and Solutions Group (WAS), the Roaming Agreement Exchange Group (RAEX), and the Network Setting Exchange (NSX).

Eligibility

GSMA rapporteur membership is open to non-GSM licensed operators, or those planning to roam on GSM networks – plus Mobile Virtual ​Network Operators.​ This includes non-GSM licensed operators, fixed wireless/wireless local loop (FW/WLL) operators, M2M operators, mobile virtual network operators (MVNO), and wholesale network operators.

Device manufacturers 

Whether you’re a device manufacturer or network equipment vendor, GSMA industry members represent the foundations on which our connected life is built. By taking an active role in the technology working groups our industry members are driving the discussion, decisions and standards that are paving the way for a more scalable, secure and robust connected future.

GSMA membership features that are particularly interesting to many device manufacturer members include the Terminal Steering Group (TSG), the Fraud and Security Group (FASG), and the Device Security Group.

Eligibility

GSMA industry membership is open to companies in the broader mobile ecosystem, including equipment vendors, device manufacturers and software companies (and organisations using mobile connectivity to create better services). This includes handset and device makers, equipment providers, and internet companies.

Infrastructure 

Mobile towers and the associated infrastructure are key ingredients in delivering ultra-fast mobile connectivity into the hands of subscribers around the globe. Through the GSMA’s working groups and communities our members are driving the discussion around future technologies and trends, from HAPS and 5G RAN to digital infrastructure.

Eligibility

GSMA industry membership is open to companies in the broader mobile ecosystem, including equipment vendors, device manufacturers and software companies (as well as organisations using mobile connectivity to create better services). This includes tower & fibre companies, digital infrastructure, new connectivity technology companies 

Software 

Software defines our global mobile networks, whether it is the protocols and functions in the radio access network, the applications that run across our networks or the cloud services that drive value for consumers and enterprises around the world. GSMA members are defining the software landscape and constantly innovating to ensure that networks are scalable, flexible, secure and robust.

Eligibility

GSMA industry membership is open to companies in the broader mobile ecosystem, including software companies and organisations using mobile connectivity to create better services. This includes software-defined network providers, application developers, security companies, and systems integrators

Fintech

The GSMA fintech community is exploring areas of common interest and addressing key issues in the financial services space. Monitoring developments, sharing case studies, creating new collaboration opportunities, and driving exciting innovative projects.

Eligibility

Sector-specific industry engagement bridging the gap between the mobile and fintech industries.

Automotive  

The GSMA is working with mobile operators, automotive original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and suppliers, industry associations and regulatory bodies to accelerate the growth of the connected vehicle market by agreeing a common approach to security, regulatory and infrastructure solutions.

Aviation and drones 

The GSMA is actively working with the telecoms and aviation industries to: maximise the use of beyond-visual-line-of-sight capabilities for unmanned aircraft systems (UAS); develop new use cases; and help create an open and trusted regulatory environment. The GSMA is working on two drone-related initiatives, making progress in this area – the Drone interest group (DIG) and Aerial connectivity joint activity (ACJA).
