mHealth could enable an additional 28.4 million people access to the healthcare system in Brazil, and an additional 15.5 million to the same in Mexico, without having to add a doctor. Total healthcare spend (public and private) could be reduced by 14 billion USD in Brazil and 3.8 billion USD in Mexico while providing the same care impact. This report, commissioned by the GSMA and conducted by PriceWaterhouseCoopers, outlines the challenges posed by healthcare in Brazil and Mexico and how those challenges can be addressed using mHealth solutions.
