Multinational MVNO passes VoLTE interoperability test

Truphone Limited has become the first MVNO to complete and pass five GSMA Interoperability Testing VoLTE roaming tests. This means that they have successfully demonstrated their VoLTE capabilities within Germany, the Netherlands, the USA, Hong Kong and Portugal with a bespoke IMS service profile, which is compatible with any IR.25 compliant device. Thus all of their customers will be able to enjoy the best experience possible when voice calling on Truphone’s network.

The testing methodology used, was defined by the operator and vendor community in GSMA’s Networks Group, and is outlined in GSMA IR.25 PRD. Moreover, both OEM and operator members in the GSMA Terminal Steering Group have endorsed the tests, through the creation of TS.59 PRD. Significantly, this states that where a network and a device have the same service profile, for example VoLTE capability, both parties are now obliged to enable IMS services on the device.

Michael Moorfield, CTO, at Truphone said, ‘VoLTE is the new standard for voice calling, enabling our customers to experience seamless HD quality calls. We are pleased that Truphone’s global network has been proven to be VoLTE-compatible in our major markets. We hope this new certification will continue to encourage device manufacturers worldwide to retrieve our latest network configuration from the GSMA Network Setting Exchange and ensure the best possible experience for our customers.
