Lynk Global has successfully tested its direct-to-device satellite service on Catanduanes island in the Philippines with partner Smart Communications. The trial demonstrated text messaging and light data access, including website browsing, using Lynk satellites in an area where traditional telco infrastructure is difficult to deploy and recently damaged by typhoons. Smart says continued testing will support future commercial services aimed at improving connectivity and emergency response once Lynk’s satellite network is fully deployed.
