Earlier this year, Vodafone deployed their first commercial NB-IoT service, via a remote software upgrade of over 1,000 existing 4G base stations in six major cities in Spain. This is part of the operator’s broader vision to bring secure, reliable licensed low power wide area networks in licensed spectrum all over the globe. Central to this plan is their collaborative work with other key companies in the ecosystem such as Ericsson, Huawei and the GSMA.
