On May 8, 2024, Mats Granryd (Director General of the GSMA) met with the Secretary of the Ministry of Electronics and IT, along with Jeanette Whyte (Head of Public Policy, APAC, GSMA) and Natasha Nayak (Senior Policy Manager, APAC, GSMA). The focus was on how the two organizations can work together on 5G and 6G standards and specifications. They also discussed the anticipated presence of MeitY delegation at MWC Barcelona 2025, where they may participate on the theme of data privacy and India’s implementation of the privacy law.
On May 9, 2024, Mats met with the TRAI Chairman and team, along with GSMA APAC representatives Jeanette Whyte and Natasha Nayak. They discussed GSMA’s work on Quality of Service, which is a priority area for TRAI, as well as GSMA’s participation in the upcoming India Mobile Congress 2024.
Also on May 9, Mats met with the Secretary of the Department of Telecommunications (DoT), Mr. Neeraj Mittal, and his team, again with Jeanette Whyte and Natasha Nayak. The discussion centered on DoT’s priority policy areas and GSMA’s involvement in India Mobile Congress 2024. They also talked about various DoT-ITU collaborative events like AI For Good and Women’s Network.
