In September, the GSMA convened members, industry players and EU policy decision makers for “Europe’s Big Bet on Connectivity” event in partnership with POLITICO Studio, bringing together leading voices to explore the future of Europe’s digital infrastructure. The discussion featured Vivek Badrinath, GSMA’s Director General, and Jamil Anderlini, POLITICO’s Regional Director in Europe.
The conversation addressed how Europe can strengthen its position in the global digital race by tackling market fragmentation, increasing investment, and modernising regulation. Badrinath emphasised the importance of consolidation and competitiveness to support infrastructure upgrades and influence future technology roadmaps.
Looking ahead, the event previewed the forthcoming Digital Networks Act (DNA). Badrinath described it as “a once-in-a-generation opportunity to modernise telecom rules and create a truly unified market”, urging policymakers to be bold and forward-looking.
