New GSMA members are building trust in digital systems, while helping mobile operators create more value.

A red background displays seven white logos: apkudo, 1hapae., Mobilesquared, net2chain, NICT, spartified, and SLC, each with unique icons or designs beside their names. All text and icons are in white.

Trust is earned, not given. That adage rings truer than ever, as bad actors use AI and other sophisticated digital tools to try and defraud individuals and businesses. Operating on the frontline of the intensifying battle with fraudsters and scammers, several new GSMA members are helping build trust in the digital economy.

New York-based SLC Digital, for example, has developed a “hardware-rooted transaction assurance platform for the AI economy.”  Founded in 2022, SLC Digital is leveraging SIM/eSIMs along with mobile networks, to enable organisations to establish cryptographic proof that high-risk digital actions are explicitly authorised. The goal is to defend against AI-powered fraud, account takeover, and digital impersonation.

“Joining the GSMA reflects our commitment to advancing trusted digital interactions through the global mobile ecosystem,” says Travis McGregor, CEO and Co-Founder of SLC Digital.  “As AI transforms how organisations think about identity and authorisation, we’re excited to collaborate with GSMA members to help shape the future of hardware-rooted transaction assurance and accelerate secure, interoperable solutions that benefit enterprises and consumers worldwide.”

Also founded in 2022, Luxembourg-based Hopae (with offices in San Francisco, Seoul and Paris) is developing global identity infrastructure to enable enterprises to use government-issued electronic IDs (eIDs) to verify individuals instantly. Hopae says it provides an end-to-end managed service covering regulatory, compliance, and legal requirements—from rapid onboarding and real-world testing with eID holders to ongoing monitoring and operational support. It aims to help enterprises quickly launch and scale trusted identity services across markets.

“We joined the GSMA because we believe government-issued eIDs can solve many of the identity challenges mobile operators face today,” explains Jaehoon Ace Shim, Founder and CEO of Hopae. “By connecting operators to more than 70+ eIDs, we hope to make new line activation and roaming faster and more seamless, while securing high-risk events, such as SIM swaps for operators and their customers.”

Building trust across the ecosystem

Another new member, Baltimore-based Apkudo helps companies capture and unify data from every programme, transaction, and touchpoint across the device lifecycle to create a trusted Device Passport™. Their platform is used to maximise value and reduce risk for companies buying, selling, and managing device assets.

“Trust has to be built into the device supply chain, not added on later,” notes Kristen Barry, SVP Marketing and Communications at Apkudo. “That’s why we’re excited to work with GSMA and the wider community of OEMs, carriers, and operators on new, secure ways to share device data. We’re looking forward to joining working groups that make the whole device lifecycle more consistent and more valuable for everyone involved.”

Collaborating on international R&D

Building trust in digital systems is also a high priority for another new GSMA member – Japan’s National Institute of Information and Communications Technology (NICT). A public research institution that specialises in information and communications technology, NICT collaborates with universities, industry, local governments, and domestic and overseas research institutions on R&D that will ultimately generate valuable innovations for society.

“We joined the GSMA to strengthen collaboration with the global mobile communications community and contribute our expertise in cybersecurity, 5G/6G, and digital trust,” says Yutaka Miyake, Research Executive Director of NICT. “Through active participation in GSMA working groups, we hope to exchange knowledge, support international cooperation, and help advance secure and resilient mobile communications worldwide.”

Distilling more value from operators’ infrastructure

Several companies in the August intake of GSMA members are focused on helping mobile operators open up new revenue streams. New York-based Net2Chain, for example, says it enables operators to transform IoT connectivity into intelligent, trusted and monetisable enterprise services. By operating as a “non-intrusive intelligence and orchestration layer” above existing operator infrastructure, Net2Chain aims to deliver the visibility, assurance and control required to create new service revenues, strengthen customer engagement and improve operational efficiency.

“We joined the GSMA because collaboration is fundamental to the future of telecom,” explains Dinor Adam V Levi, Founder & Chief Executive Officer of Net2Chain. “Net2Chain is focused on helping operators unlock greater value from their existing infrastructure by transforming connectivity into intelligent, enterprise-ready services. Through GSMA, we look forward to sharing knowledge, collaborating with industry leaders, and contributing to the evolution of trusted, commercially sustainable mobile ecosystems.”

Meanwhile, London-based Spartified empowers leading telcos, including BT, Telia, AT&T, and KDDI, to streamline complex network operations, speed up service innovation, and capture new revenue across roaming, IoT, value-added services, and network APIs. Its portfolio covers a diverse product set: a travel eSIM platform enabling multi-carrier connectivity for enterprises, Network API monetisation through its AI-powered API orchestrator, and stronger customer experience and roaming reliability via smarter IR.21 configuration management and IoT connectivity services.

“Spartified joined GSMA to strengthen its engagement with the roaming ecosystem and contribute to industry innovation,” says Sachin Anand, founder of Spartified.  “We leverage IR.21 data in real time, including GSMA master data, to proactively audit and ensure correct roaming network configuration, preventing failures. Building on our roaming and VAS expertise, we aim to contribute to the GSMA WAS community with AI-powered roaming and fraud solutions that improve customer experience and reduce costs.”

Monitoring the business messaging market

Our final new member for August, Mobilesquared conducts in-depth research into the business messaging market. The UK-based company says it delivers decision-ready insights based on independent, market-leading data and industry expertise, covering every global market. Promising an insider perspective and unmatched accuracy, Mobilesquared aims to provide clients with the detail they need to understand the evolving business messaging landscape

“Mobilesquared is delighted to further cement our industry standing by becoming a GSMA Industry Member,” says Nick Lane, Chief Messaging Officer and Founder of Mobilesquared. “As the leader in business messaging intelligence, our mission is to provide authoritative insights that help inform and shape the wider industry. The GSMA’s global reach and groups will enable us to deepen our engagement across the sector, while continuing to contribute valuable insights to the conversations shaping the future of business messaging.”
