Mauritel S.A.

The Company Mauritanian of Telecommunications (MAURITEL) is created under the terms of the
decree n° 99-157/PM/MIPT of December 29th, 1999 carrying scission of the Office of Postal and
telecommunications services (OPT) in two national companies. This text is itself consecutive with the
LAW N° 99-019 of the 7/11/1999 relating to telecommunications.
Mauritel is a dynamic company turned towards the future which, since its creation, plays significant
role in the economic and social development of Mauritania.
Mauritel is the heiress of the telecom activity of the historical operator, the OPT and is a global
operator (GSM, ISDN, 3G). It tied in April 2001 a Strategic partnership with Maroc Telecom, which
made Mauritel the unchallenged leader of telecommunications in Mauritania.
