GSMA Connected Cars Dinner: The Global Deployment of Cellular V2X
- Belvue Museum
In 2019, the European Union intends to start rolling out cooperative intelligent transport systems (C-ITS) across the continent in order to make transport much safer. A thorny issue though is which standard for short-range communication between cars should prevail: the one using mobile technology (C-V2X) or the Wi-Fi standard (802.11p)? Or is it possible for both technologies to coexist?
The technology will be commercially available later this year and is quickly gaining traction with vehicle manufacturers and governments across the world. However, in Europe, the situation is different, with Member States and vehicle manufacturers split over the best road ahead.
At this dedicated dinner on connected cars, we will discuss with key mobile industry representatives, car makers and stakeholders the latest updates on the global deployment of C-V2X, as well as the regulatory steps that need to be taken at European and national level in order to create the C-ITS ecosystem and make Europe’s roads safer and smarter.
Speakers include the GSMA’s Head of Public Policy Andy Hudson, a high-level automotive representative of the 5GAA, Emmanuel Routier, Vice President Verticals, IoT at Orange, and Uwe Puetzschler, Head of Car2x at Nokia.
