Mobile operators respond to the earthquake in Türkiye and Syria

We are deeply saddened by the earthquake in Türkiye and Syria and our thoughts are with all those impacted. Connectivity for the impacted population is a vital element to ensure that communities can access life-saving information, stay in touch with loved ones and access vital services.

The GSMA immediately activated its response coordination, connecting humanitarian partners with Mobile Network Operators in Türkiye and Syria as they collectively collaborate to provide vital aid assistance to the people affected by the devastating earthquake.

In the aftermath of the disaster, mobile operators in Türkiye immediately worked to restore connectivity, deploying mobile base stations and providing Wi-Fi hotspots in affected regions. They have continued to make domestic mobile and landline calls accessible to ensure people can stay connected.

Many operators globally are also providing free mobile services such as international calls and SMS to Türkiye and Syria and free roaming for their customers in the affected region as well as charitable donations.
