Business gets insights into digital life from teenagers

It is not often that young people get the chance to meet the heads of technology companies but six teenagers had the opportunity to do just that in 2018, thanks to Telia Company. As part of its Children’s Advisory Panel (CAP), Telia invited a group of 14 to 17-year-olds to meet its Board of Directors and share their experiences of the digital world.

Around 3,000 children from across the Nordic and Baltic regions have participated in the Children’s Advisory Panel, which works with child rights organisations to gain a better understanding of the next generation’s perspectives on digital technology. The six young people discussed the opportunities, benefits and challenges of life online with Telia’s Board of Directors.

“It’s very important for us to listen to young people, to hear how they behave and how they use the internet,” noted Marie Ehrling, Chair of the Board at Telia Company, after the meeting. “During this conversation today, there were many positive things but, of course, we are also aware of the problems… We have to be constantly looking into what will happen next as we have a responsibility to protect children online.”
