Helping young people in Colombia to make the most of the digital world

School of Influencers is a new digital participation programme run by Tigo Colombia. It has trained 30 national leaders who, in turn, are training 1,500 teenagers in four cities on the safe and creative use of the internet.

Announced in July 2019, the programme is the result of a global alliance between UNICEF and Millicom (which operates as Tigo in Colombia). Content created during the workshops will be housed on a digital platform and made available to anyone interested in the positive use of technology for young people.

With research by Tigo and EAFIT University (Medellín) showing that 93% of 15 to 16-year-olds go online every day or almost every day, it is crucial that young people understand how to participate positively and safely in the digital world. School of Influencers provides guidance and support to do just that.
