GSMA Partners with CLEAR to Manage Vaccination and Testing Requirements at MWC Los Angeles

Multi-layered health and safety plan includes vaccine and test result confirmation through CLEAR Health Pass

7 October 2021, Los Angeles: The GSMA today announced its partnership with CLEAR Health Pass to offer COVID-19 health screening technology at MWC Los Angeles. The event returns to California October 26-28 and this partnership is an essential element in the multi-layered health plan, Committed Community.

Attendees of the event will be required to provide proof of a valid COVID-19 vaccine or a negative test result to gain entrance to the venue. CLEAR will make this requirement easy. Health Pass is a free, mobile application by CLEAR that securely connects a verified identity to multiple layers of COVID-19-related health information – like test results – to help reduce public health risk and contribute to a safe experience for MWCLA attendees, exhibitors, sponsors, and partners. Eligible attendees are invited to use CLEAR’s Health Pass to securely access and verify their health information before entering the venue.

We have always taken safety at MWC Los Angeles very seriously. This year especially that has meant working with partners and experts to help build confidence in a return to in-person events,” said John Hoffman, CEO GSMA Ltd. “We’ve applied principles from Committed Community at events in 2021, one in China and our flagship, Barcelona. The approach works and, a critical element of that success is attracting and working with the right partners. The GSMA, alongside the Los Angeles Tourism Board, is pleased to bring CLEAR on board for MWC Los Angeles.”

“By partnering with Los Angeles Tourism & Convention Board and CLEAR Health Pass – already recognized as the travel industry’s leading solution provider for secure, expedited airport access – the GSMA is able to use CLEAR’s digital vaccine solutions to provide MWC event participants with an L.A. experience that is safe, seamless, and secure. As LA welcomes visitors from around the world to our City of Angels, our highest priority remains the health and safety of our guests, residents, and employees, alike. We are grateful for the critical role that CLEAR is playing in supporting L.A.’s comeback story as we welcome the MWCLA21 to Los Angeles,” said Adam Burke, President/CEO, Los Angeles Tourism and Convention Board

How It Works:

  1. Download and Enroll Prior to Arrival: Users download the free CLEAR app HERE, tap the white Health Pass tile, select the GSMA, and then enroll by verifying their identity and snapping a quick selfie.
  2. Health Survey: Before entering the venue, attendees open Health Pass on their CLEAR app, verify their identity with a selfie, and answer a few health survey questions.
  3. Touchless Access: Attendees will show their CLEAR Health Pass screen on their phone to the security team on entrance. Depending on their COVID-related health information, attendees are issued a red or green notification on their Health Pass app.
  4. Privacy First: With CLEAR, you are always in control of your information. The venue only receives confirmation an attendee has satisfied the requirements and never has access to private health details.

CLEAR Health Pass is used by more than 50 organizations across the U.S., including major sports leagues, MGM Resorts, and the state of Hawaii.

Planning in a pandemic is complicated. Global circumstances remain dynamic, and so we must behave accordingly, which means constant evaluation and fine-tuning. We are adapting as necessary and remain committed to communicating frequently.
