The World of Mobile Innovation is Heading to Atlanta

GSMA to showcase the best in mobile innovation at the Mobile Innovation Marketplace – Americas in Atlanta in June 2008

The GSM Association (GSMA), the global trade association for the mobile industry and the organisation responsible for the Mobile World Congress, the largest, most significant and most successful global mobile event in the world, will showcase the best in mobile innovation at its Mobile Innovation Marketplace – Americas being held in Atlanta, Georgia between 3-4 June 2008.

The Mobile Innovation Marketplace will bring together global thought leaders from the mobile industry’s top innovators, investors, operators and key suppliers from all over the world, as well as showcase the best new innovators who will compete for a place on the global stage at the 2009 Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain.

During the Mobile Innovation Marketplace – Americas, 15 pre-selected new technology concepts from around the world from five different innovation categories will be reviewed by senior executives from mobile operators and venture capitalists. One winner will be named from each category and awarded the title of ‘GSMA Global Semi-Finalist’. The categories are:

  • Most Innovative True Mobile Start-Up
  • Most Innovative Carrier Infrastructure or Platform
  • Most Innovative Consumer Application or Service
  • Most Innovative Mobile Application in a Vertical Market
  • Most Innovative Wireless Device Centric Technology

From the five category winners, two will be deemed ‘Mobile Innovation Global Finalists’ and will move on to compete against four other Finalists selected from the GSMA’s other international event locations – Macau and Barcelona – for the prestigious title of the ‘2009 GSMA Mobile Innovation Global Champion’, which will be announced at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona next February.
