On 14 May 2025, the GSMA Connected Women programme launched their latest flagship report, the Mobile Gender Gap Report 2025. This report provides a detailed analysis of the gender gap in mobile ownership and mobile internet use across low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). It highlights key trends, the barriers women face and opportunities to further drive women’s digital and financial inclusion.

During this launch event, Nadia Jeffrie, lead author of the report, presented the latest findings on the mobile gender gap. The audience also heard from the Secretary General of the ITU, the CEO Axian Telecom and the CEO of Jazz Pakistan, who shared their reactions to the report’s findings and discussed concrete actions to accelerate digital and financial inclusion for women.

The GSMA’s latest data shows that progress in closing the gender gap in mobile internet adoption in LMICs has stalled. Women in these regions are now 14% less likely than men to use mobile internet, underscoring the urgent need for targeted action.

If you missed the virtual launch event, catch up on the recording today to gain valuable insights and practical recommendations to help bridge the mobile gender gap and ensure that everyone can benefit from the power of connectivity.
