Operators roll out new 5G-Advanced solutions

2024 has seen increasing momentum behind 5G-Advanced, following the completion of 3GPP Release 18 standards earlier this year.

UAE operator du recently inaugurated its 5G-Advanced Innovation Centre in Dubai to spur development of the technology and boost network performance. ZTE, in collaboration with China Unicom Henan and Yunhuan Connected Drone Technology Co., Ltd., has successfully completed the first commercial deployment combining 5G-Advanced ISAC base stations with blood delivery services. The integration of 5G-Advanced low-altitude ISAC technology with critical blood transport lifelines ensures safer, more efficient and more reliable medical logistics. Also in China, the largest 5.5G native “lights-out” factory in the world has increased production efficiency by 86%.

Such initiatives reflect expectations by operators that 5G-Advanced will build on the capabilities of 5G, offering potential for new features and revenue streams as well as greater customer engagement.
