Amazon Project Kuiper Deployment Begins With First ULA Launch

ULA launched 27 satellites in the Kuiper-1 mission on an Atlas V 551 rocket from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida at 7:01 p.m. EDT on Monday evening, marking the first full-scale mission for the satellite broadband initiative. 

Project Kuiper aims to begin deploying Amazon’s Low-Earth Orbit (LEO) constellation to provide internet access in underserved areas. This follows two earlier prototype satellite tests in 2024.

The new satellites feature upgraded technology, including improved antennas, processors, solar arrays, propulsion, and optical links to enhance connectivity and performance.
