Eutelsat has awarded Airbus Defence and Space a contract to build 340 additional OneWeb low Earth orbit (LEO) satellites, bringing the total ordered to 440 when combined with a previous batch of 100 procured in December 2024. The satellites will be manufactured at Airbus’s Toulouse facility on a new production line, with deliveries starting at the end of 2026. This order ensures continuity of service for Eutelsat’s OneWeb constellation by progressively replacing earlier satellites reaching the end of their operational life.
The new satellites will feature significant technology upgrades, including advanced digital channelizers for enhanced onboard processing, improved efficiency, and greater operational flexibility. They are designed to maximize long-term performance and open opportunities for new business cases such as hosted payloads.
