At Digital Nation Summit Tokyo 2026, GSMA brought together leaders from government, telecoms, and technology to discuss how Japan and the wider APAC region can strengthen trust and security in an increasingly digital world.
A key highlight was the panel session, “Building Trust & Security in a Digital Society,” moderated by Jeanette Whyte, Head of Public Policy and External Affairs of APAC, GSMA, which explored how cross-sector collaboration can help combat rising cyber threats and scams while supporting inclusive digital growth.

The discussion highlighted several key initiatives and priorities, including:
- Active Cyber Defence (ACD) frameworks to strengthen proactive threat prevention
- The GSMA APAC Cross-Sector Anti-Scam Taskforce (ACAST) and the importance of industry collaboration
- AI-powered tools for real-time threat detection and scam prevention
- Strong alignment with Japan’s Digital Infrastructure Development Plan 2030
The panel featured insights from leaders across government and industry, including:
- Kazumi Nishikawa (METI)
- Koji Ouchi (MIC)
