The UN Sustainable Development Goals call for a reduction in the transaction costs of migrant remittances to less than 3 per cent by 2030. The emergence of scalable mobile money remittance models and the development of a broader mobile money ecosystem-particularly in Africa-indicates that mobile money could be best placed to achieve this. Expert panellists will discuss the implications and the regulatory requirements needed to realise this goal.
